Namaste

My name is Anastasia (Ana Prem), and I’m the founder of Soma + Soul.

Over the past 12+ years, I’ve taught yoga, meditation, and somatic practices in a wide range of settings: from clinical recovery centers in California to high-end wellness resorts, yoga studios, teacher trainings, and international retreats across the US, India, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

But it all began in my twenties in India, where I trained with my guruji, Bal Mukund Singh, at the Morarji Desai Institute of Yoga in Delhi, India. My education was rooted in the classical lineage of Dhirendra Brahmachari, a system known for its breath-centered kriya, internal discipline, and profound understanding of the subtle body. This precise, functional approach to yoga laid the foundation for everything I teach today.

Today I am a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), trained to work not only with the musculoskeletal system but with the human being as a whole — addressing nervous system regulation, internal organ health, stress resilience, breath function, and lifestyle alignment. Yoga therapy is not just movement. It’s a structured and evidence-based healing modality grounded in anatomy, neuroscience, and ancient wisdom.

In my therapeutic work, I integrate the principles of Chinese medicine and the wisdom of Taoist internal alchemy, particularly the energy cultivation methods of Master Mantak Chia. Studying and incorporatingting this approach has deepened my understanding of meridians, internal organs, and the energetics of transformation — offering practical tools to restore balance and vitality.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I’ve devoted years to studying Kaula Tantra, a non-dual lineage of Kashmir Shaivism that embraces embodied experience as a path to realization. For me, this is not about performance or aesthetics, but a profound, sacred science that views the body, emotions, and sensations as keys to awakening.

As a woman, I also honor the fact that feminine cognition operates differently. Our awareness is often not linear but spacious, intuitive, and relational. That’s why I guide not just through structure and concentration (dharana), but through feeling, rhythm, and presence. This body-led, emotionally intelligent approach is at the heart of Tantric teachings as well as in everything that I share with my clients.

Today, I live between India and Bali (Indonesia), where I lead wellness retreats and spiritual pilgrimages, mentor clients, and offer private sessions.

My mission is to bridge ancient tradition with modern science, and to support others in realigning their lives through the intelligence of the body, the steadiness of the breath, and the wisdom of the soul.

What People Are Saying

“Ana is quite simply the best yoga instructor I have had in my 22 years of practicing yoga. I was taking her classes in “Four Seasons,” (Westlake Village). And in the year I have had the honor of being her student, I have become healthier, stronger, and more in tune with spirituality and detachment - that is the essence of yoga.”

— Marilyn Wedge, group class participant

“Ana is very professional, and I loved her deep background in yoga and yogic philosophy from having spent years studying and teaching in North India. I came to her with chronic tension, burnout, and a feeling of being disconnected from my body. Now I feel stronger, clearer, and more comfortable in my body than I have in years.”

— Amit, private client

“Practicing with Ana was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Whether we were moving through the postures, being in stillness, or practicing breathwork, I felt completely supported and seen. Ana’s ability to weave yoga philosophy, subtle energy work, and therapeutic insight into an accessible class is truly exceptional!”
